Jimmy Smith

Hey guys! My name is Jimmy, and music is what I want to do. It is frustrating because I can sing, usually detect harmonies, develop the main song melodies etc. but I am frustrated because I am technically musically illiterate, and play no instruments. So I am completely dependent on other talented individuals (producers, musicians) to help my songs come to fruition. Any interested folks, please contact me... I'm hoping for a little musical magic to happen because I am attending the school made for preparing students for the music business. I'd be content to simply get some real studio work somewhere, because not having an outlet to express one's talents is unfair to yourself and a very sad thing in general. I just hope that not being a music major or minor hinders my chance of perhaps making music a more integral part of my life and hopefully a career. I began singing in my church and at various ballgames at my old high school. I did a major statewide competition in 2006 and took home 2nd place. Recently I've been blessed with opportunities by being involved in local contests and events like winning Lawrence County Idol in May 2007, performing at the "Relay for Life" benefit, wnning a local county-wide talent contest, placing 3rd in Season 2 of Cree Ingle's Idol Search, and even auditioning for American Idol, America's Got Talent, and Nashville Star. You can read all about my experience in my blog. I'm currently in the Belmont POPS vocal ensemble for a second year and am having a blast! It is only within the past year that I have begun to write my own music. It started with "United" which is an R&B and hip hop infused number. However more recent songs tend have a country feel. I enjoy writing and recording my own music as well as cover songs. Most recently, the most solid project I have completed is a song called "One More Try".
