Lucas Stark & Bruksorkestern playes old Swedish traditional broadsides-songs in a way that no one have ever heard them before. The material are often from the 18th and 19th century and consists of sailor songs, railway building songs and songs about shipwreks, love, theft, terrible murders and knifes glowing in the dark .
Their music is built on a old Nordic music tradition influensed by and mixed with modern music. The arrangements vary from the accoustic traditional way of presenting the songs to a more electrified sound where influenses from rock, country, reggae and other music styles blend in and makes the characteristic sound of the band. With playfulness and humor the group uses these influenses to create a solid ground wich provids new musical environments to these traditional songs. The stories and the voice always remains central.
Since Lucas Stark & Bruksorkestern first started presenting their unusual material in 2005 they have received standing ovations and great reviews for their debut album and their strong live performances. They have performed at concert halls, clubs and festivals all over Sweden and a several times they have been seen on national TV and broadcasted at radio stations around the country.
