Marley-Dee - a 25yr old female vocalist from Bristol, UK.Having a father who was the bass guitarist of Talisman(a reggae group) I grew up with a musical aura around me. From an early age I used to jam alongside my Father whilst he was recording or writing music. I grew up with a passion for music and dance and regularly attended ballets such as The Nutcracker & Capelia. I religiously attended ballet, tap & modern Dance Schools in which I took part in seasonal performances. My passion for singing was still present although not knowing what to do with it I used to sing at home and practise to various artists trying to extend my vocal range and find my own voice. My idols were and still are Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion €“ because of their meaningful songs and powerful deliverance. I love to sing ballads and use my vocal range to the maximum. When I reached 20yrs I became acquaintances with Mixmaster M who had his own independent recording label Blackstory Records which is located in Bristol. I approached him after about a year and declared my passion for singing. After much persuasion he finally listened to me and liked what he heard. Although there was a lot of work to do he decided to form an RNB group and call us 'Difference'.
Myself, Mixmaster M & the other member of Difference became very close as we worked together on Differences' album. We performed at venues in and around Bristol, appeared in a TV documentary and did radio interviews. Our single 'Get Up'was on the play list for Vibe 101 FM. As time passed circumstances changed and Difference had to move forward and go our separate ways. This was an unfortunate event but I used it to my advantage and became more determined to succeed in the music industry. I learnt a lot about the business and marketing issues that can take place with this career. I read more books developing my knowledge and myself as a person so as to be prepared for future opportunities. Now being a single artist using my own name Marley-Dee I can say that I have come along way since being a part of Difference. Still working with Mixmaster I wrote my own material and we had put together album samplers which have featured on radio stations in and around Bristol (including Radio 1 Extra) with G Child, I have appeared on T4,Chancers featuring Fat man Scoop and have featured in a music videos which have been shown on the U Channel and MTV Base.My latest the X Factor - Finding out it's not talent they want but entertainers & idiots! With my determination and persistence I hope one day to have a wide audience in which I hope to touch with my songs. When people ask me:
'What made you decide to sing?'
I reply: 'I was born to sing & the feeling of being lost in happiness is my inspiration!'
