The Cökxpôn Ambient Society was born in 1999 with the purpose of gathering young, communal and spiritual artists together, and to organize cultural, musical and environmentalist events where promoters, participants and the audience can function as a community with the background of the Spirit Foundation.
CÖKXPÔN is a fictitious patisserie cum motel depicted in the fantasy world called Na'Conxypan conceived by painter, writer Lajos Gulácsy (1882-1932). To enrich the landscapes he envisioned, Gulácsy would often complement his work with stories considered to be written renditions of his art - phantasms of words transforming, as if they were made of paint, into shades, shapes, scents and sighs.

AMBIENT The word means mood and sourroundings.
Brian Eno's 1978 album Music for Airports pioneered a new experimental genre, focusing purely on atmosphere. Ambient has influenced many musical genres and denotes all other art forms, from dance through architecture to film, which intend to affect the audience purely through emotions, bypassing rational thought.
CÖKXPÔN AMBIENT Following the purpose of chill-out rooms, our organisation designs a fictitious space where music, theatre, dance, fine arts, visuals and the environment are present in unison. It aims to present not just a performance, but to offer a collective spiritual experience to the participants and the audience; to affect our bodies, our minds and our souls.
Our flagship event is the Cökxpôn Ambient Garden & Tent at the Sziget Festival every year. On a smaller scale, we're present in Almássy Cultural House, Trafó and other venues with our eventually club nights and occasional festivals.
The Socety opened its Cultural Centre in downtown Pest in June
2007. The centre is a meeting point of Hungarian and international contemporary artists and their audience within the framework of a complex: multicultural café, theatre, creative workshop & music studio for dance, music, lifestyle rehearsals, workshops and recordings.
The crew's Cökxpôn Ambient Service is a teahouse, interior design & programme service, available for events, meetings and parties to recreate our unique atmosphere. The biggest unique scene was made at Ozora Festival in 2008.

About applying to Cökxpon:
Our Club programplace closed on the 9th of May. So the next time we open is in October. For that you can apply from the end of August.
DJs can play for free (drinks) at the café part during summertime...
You have to know, that we dont have a budget or sponsor for he programme, we are a small artist community, so bands who have no audience (min. 50 persons), cannot make their own night, because it costs too big to open the program place and its a risk we cannot take.
So for those artists we made a possibility called Cökxpon talent spotter, when more artists plays at the café like a mini festival with low rice of tickets. We can only give that amount shared with the other artists.
If you have fixed audience you can choose the price of the tickets and we can give that amount.
About Sziget Festival we are also booked already (and have very little money also around 60 euros). If you re interested send us letter next year's January, February.
We have exchange possibilities, get money ideas, written here below, to get more money for travelling etc...,
...We are looking for longterm international cooperation!!!
Our propostion is to play in Cökxpôn CAFÉ in the following months, sometime this year, or the first months of next year.
The conditions are determinated by the association possibilities, namely we can give you the money comes from the tickets, which is incalculateble. For the accomodation, we can propose you a room in the café which is big enough to welcome you. Unfortunatelly we cannot promise more, but:
There is an exchange tender possibility twice a year in Hungary: if two bands from different countries coming forward with claim to play in each other’s country, the founders of the tender, after consideration give an amount of money to assist the bands’/DJ’s/project’s costs.

There is an extra tender possibility for the cultural/musical projects from the countries of Visegrád Group (Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary). If 1-1 band/DJ/project from at least 3 visegradian countries performe commonly, and each band/DJ/project has a foundation in the background, the performers has the chance to claim for assistance at Soros Foundation. We would need the same detailed informations than in the previous options plus a society who has all the licence to claim money for this project.
Also we would like to ask you to try to find tender possibilities in your country, as we try to find the same in Hungary, to cover the expenses.
We would need detailed informations like your biography, website, CD or DVD, members names, travelling costs, royalty, accomodation, technical details or any other needs.
