About Me
The Roots Radicals band has been performing their brand of punk rock cover and shows since 2004, with the aim to pay tribute to the Rancid, probably the most popular punk rock band of the '90s. The band, composed by Luca Massarenti (as Tim Armstrong), Riccardo Raffi(as Lars Frederiksen), Federico Gasparetti (as Brett Reed) and Marco Massarenti, (as Matt Freeman) bass player of Raw Power during the American and European tour in 1999 and actually playing with The Teachers, goes back over to the fifteen years discography of the American combo, through a live set where are showed both the best hits (Time Bomb, Roots Radicals, Bloodclot, etc.) and the songs rarely played by Rancid, considered important as well by their fans. Moreover, the Roots Radicals band takes care, can be said in a fanatical way, of the musical and the exhibition aspect: songs are performed exactly in the original version and they wear the same clothes used by the Rancid during their live concerts. Roots Radicals believe that to give the audience the nearest experience to seeing Rancid themselves, it's not enough to just simply play their songs live, but to also transmit the powerful feeling of Rancid's songs across to the audience. Although punk was often considered by the mainstream (especially in Italy) a class conscious music, Rancid had the ability to reach the big audience trough their hits, still danced in the discos all over the world, don't forgetting the punk roots of the English Clash and the American Ramones. Actually Roots Radicals have an official web site (www.rootsradicals.it ), two demo CDs and a promotional DVD, and the important project to become, in a short time, the official cover band of the American band.
