Chris Day

Trombonist, Composer /Arranger Chris Day was born in Warrenpoint, Northern Ireland. After graduating from Queens University Belfast with First Class Honours in Music he continued studies in the Trombone Class of Professor Jonas Bylund, in the Hochschule für Musik und Theatre, Hannover, Germany.Concerts have taken him throughout the UK, Europe and the USA. Chris has made several studio, television and radio recordings for BBC, UTV, RTE, TG4 and Virgin V2 and has shared the stage with many famous artists including Duke Special and Westlife.In 2007 Chris won the Hamilton Harty Scholarship award enabling him to attend and take part in the Båstad Chamber Music Festival, Sweden.An active chamber musician, Chris performs regularly with his Brass Quintet, Trombone Quartet 'Quattrobones' and Trombone Ensemble of HMT Hannover. In 2009 Chris and his Trombone Quartet were winners in the Friedrich-Jürgen-Sellheim-Gesellschaft Chamber music competition. Upcoming concerts include Konzerthaus Berlin and Laeiszhalle Hamburg. Chris can also be heard playing other instruments including, Alto / Valve Trombone, Euphonium, Church Organ, Piano and Guitar / Bass.
