Ross Howard is a singer/ songwriter hailing from Durban. He joined an international organisation when he left school and spent 7 years traveling the globe, counseling youth and completing a BA through the University of the Nations (U of N) with it’s head campus in Hawaii, USA. Ross traveled to New Zealand, Mozambique, UK, USA, Venezuela, India, Switzerland, Greece and Turkey.Ross brought his leadership back to South Africa and his home town, to work with a local community to motivated them into action in community development work into townships (locally) and beyond (India). All this time music had been bubbling beneath! Ross headed up several bands that played around Durban and he dabbled a little in studio with early songs. To his surprise, people wanted to buy copies of these basic, guitar and voice, recordings. One track even made it on local community radio. With this ‘success’ he headed to studio with a friend to bring out a low budget recording that made no.18 on the charts of community radio. A year later, Ross entered studio for the third time, this time having raised funds from friends all over the world, to bring out his first solo album, Amazed – released independantly at the end of 2003. This recording sent Ross into a whirlwind of concerts, speaking and performing engagements across Durban.Truth Magazine has likened his music to that of John Mayer, with “…universal appeal.†The tracks ‘Swept Away’ and ‘Free To Fly’ did well on radio in most Provence's community radio stations, climbing the charts quickly, and afforded him interviews at them all. Ross made his first music video for ‘Swept Away’ and subsequently two for SABC programs for the song ‘Changed’ and a commissioned track for Esther Ministries ‘One At A Time’. He has just completed a new video for ‘Free To Fly’ which was aired on 17 December 2006 on SABC 2’s ‘3:16’.The Citizen has said, “…Howard suggests a talent that will develop and grow into something outstanding.†Well, listen to his new singles, “Tremble†and “Rumour†and you will agree, that this growth has happened! Ross left work in community development to head up the cover band ‘Hush!’ in Durban and moved in February 2007 to Joburg to set up the "Ross Howard Band" and start a music company (studio & other music related services) "Ross Howard Music"He has just completed a new rock/pop EP with the radio friendly songs ‘Rumour’ and ‘Tremble’ and is now looking to take it to all music-loving South Africans! If you would like more information on 'Ross Howard Band' or 'Ross Howard Music' please email: [email protected]
