Preserverance is an integral attribute when disscussion the sucess of any musician/artist,reguardless of genre.After shocking South Carolina by appearing in The Source Magazine's Unsigned Hype colimn[1998],an unprecedented accomplishment,The Columbians acquired national recognition with their amalgam of contemporary southern themes and beats with traditional east coast lyricism.They utilize the music as a medium to depict real life situations and encounters to the masses.Group members Fly-G.I.,Cuzin Lefty,and The Southern Chef have all the characteristics necessary to attain greatness.The Columbians released a regionally accepted hip-hop effort entitled "Inside Bogota:The Underground Version."Songs like "Hunger Pains" and "Cival War" allowed the trio to exhibit their ability to take a well-orchestrated musical conction and produce anthems.One of the aforementioned tracks from that CD,"Cival War" was included on The Source Magazine's Unsigned Hype:Volume 1,a collection of compositions from well-deserving but previously unheralded hip-hop artist from different regions of the country.In addition to that monumental accomplishment,The Source Magazine requested the service of the group on their Street Heat Compilation CD,and for the second time,the group has sumitted an anthem warranting the critical acclaim and respect that they've always aspired to obtain.The Columbians,in an attempt to exceed increasing expectations,released "Under Surveillance"The Mix CD as a promotional tool to feul"P.W.I.D."the album,they solicited and received assistance from other well reconized and respected regional artist.Songs like"Off Tha Wall"and"From The City To The Narcs",clearly demonstraited the groups creativity,refined approach,and more mature evolved sound.The Columbians are original members of"Da Link Up",a group of local record labels brought together to market,promote and distribute their own music.Their newest effort entitled"P.W.I.D."[Possession With Intent to Distribute]an album composed of unwritten freestyle completely destroys the cliche"sophomoric jinx.With a gospal song,a blues tribute,down south crunkness,up north consciousness,west coast plater swagger,and somthing for the ladies,The Columbians vividly illustrate the diversity of the album.Their lead single,"Lay Down My Burdens"won the Battle of the Best"for a week on 103.9 FM radio station,an all hip-hop station in Columbia,SC,and is now currently spinning on gospel radio station 95.3 FM.The Columbians have been involved in event promotion,education in the community,performing free in fund-raisers,and involved in after school programs.The South Cak trio have appeared on southeast based TV show "In Tha City"and "Independent Music Review",South Carolina's ear to the street TV,and the nationally based"Music Lounge."The Columbians have performed over 75 promotional shows for the album,P.W.I.D.,kicking off the "Back to School Jam",sponcered by "The City of Columbia" and 103.9 FM radio station and shutting down the "Back to school Block Party,sponcered by Coca Cola and 100.1 FM radio station.With paraphernalia such as shirts for the women and children,posters,stickers and sample CD's of the album,along side an all female street team,"The Hot City Stallions".The trio are on one of the most successful independant marketing campaigns ever in South Carolina.With 5,000 units moved out off the trunk of "Under Surveillance:The Mix CD and over 7,000 of P.W.I.D.,the bootleg version sold,The Columbians have paid their dues and are ready to make an impact nationaly,and wont stop until that goal is achieved!
