Godfather of Calgary’s Hip Hop scene Noel Osborne returns home after teaming up with music group Bran Van 3000 and singer/producer Max-A-MillionWinnipeg, January 14, 2008 – Los Angeles based recording artist Noel Osborne returns home to Calgary after linking up with Bran Van 3000 in L.A. and Max-A-Million in Chicago. Osborne was in L.A. working with Montreal’s James Di Salvio, the ringleader of Bran Van 3000 regarding the production of the group’s new album, Rose. Osborne is a featured artist on the new album and Di Salvia refers to him in the credits as a “quantum producer” in recognition of his special ability to bring people together and make things happen. “Noel is a great person, wonderful artist and a risk-taker. He is a big part of the record, not only for his contributions as a singer but for his introductions to a lot of different artists and industry people. He was our guardian angel on the project. When things got tough, he was always there offering lots of encouragement. I really respect Noel’s skill and unique talent,” says Di Salvio. The group’s last record, Discosis, was released in 2001, which included hit song, Drinking in LA.Additionally, Osborne was recently in Chicago recording a song for his debut solo album with singer/producer Max-A-Million. “I think that Noel is a wicked artist whose music is intensely versatile. I’m thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with him on his solo album. His beats are both city and gritty with a smooth groove,” says Max-A-Million. Max-A-Million is famous for blending Caribbean Reggae with R&B, Hip Hop and Pop and has consistently charted top 40 hits in Billboard Magazine. He has reached Gold and Platinum in 24 countries and is best known for his platinum hit Sexual Healing, a Max version of Marvin Gaye's classic hit, as well as for Take Your Time, another platinum hit. After hooking up with Di Salvio in L.A., Osborne immediately made a call to Max-A-Million to request his involvement in the Bran Van 3000 project. Max-A-Million is featured in three songs on the group’s new album including their new hit, Call Me. Max-A-Million said, “I was very excited to receive a call from Noel and to work with him on the Bran Van 3000 album. As I worked with the group, I learned more about their music and was thrilled to be pioneering a new sound with them.” Max-A-Million recently worked on projects with Kanye West and Twista, to name a few.“The production of the Rose album was an incredible journey and working with an amazing group of artists of this calibre is a dream-come true. Rose is one of the sickest records that I have heard in a long time. Jamie has a way of capturing an eclectic vibe that takes the listener on a long, twisted and unbelievable adventure from start to finish that fuses electronica with soul, alternative, rock, reggae and Hip Hop,” says Osborne. Osborne is in Calgary for the next few weeks promoting his recent work with Bran Van 3000 and recording the last few songs of his solo album, Intergalactic Love Affair, slated for release in spring 2008. While in town, he hooked up with Alberta artist, songwriter and producer Jay Crawford a.k.a. J-Ross. Osborne and J-Ross have a long history of collaborating together and there is already a buzz about the titled track, Intergalactic Love Affair, which they recently recorded over the Christmas holidays.Osborne earned the reputation as the Godfather of Calgary’s Hip Hop scene back in 1992 as “Noel O” when he independently released his single Love Connection, an R&B Hip Hop song which received national exposure. Osborne was also the first TV host of colour in Western Canada when he hosted the trendy cutting edge cable show, The Thursday Edition, where he regularly showcased Hip Hop. In 1994, he hosted “Noel O’s Chocolate Thursday’s” at a local nightclub which became the number one R&B Hip Hop Showcase in western Canada at the time. As a local music pioneer he broke new ground in a city with deep roots in country music as Hip Hop had no profile in Alberta. To listen to songs from the Rose album, visit website: www.officialbranvan3000.com. By 7, he was a professional magician, juggler, and accomplished unicyclist. Noel opened his first entertainment company, Magical Miracles, when he was only 13 years old.In 1987 Noel joined the Young Canadian School of Performing Arts and performed in many large-scale shows as a singer and dancer. Events included the 1988 Winter Olympics, Calgary Expedition, and Stampede grandstand shows. In 1989, Noel was awarded “Best Male Vocalist” at a Vocal Jazz Conference at Washington State University. Shortly afterwards, he moved to L.A. to study music and music business at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood. While in Hollywood, Noel studied under acclaimed Vocal Instructor Seth Riggs and Associates. Riggs is best known for his work with Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, and Madonna. In 1992, Noel returned to Canada to release his first Independent single “Love Connection”, under his independent label Global Music and Entertainment. At the same time, Noel was featured and starred in many TV Commercials. He hosted and produced a trendy cutting edge cable show called “the Thursday Edition”. A cult following soon formed, leading Noel to host many syndicated television shows, including “the Movie Show” produced by Larry Day. Larry soon saw something special in Noel and developed a TV pilot called “Rock N’ Reel.” Noel found himself at a crossroads. His music career was blossoming; he produced a series of high school tours, community outreach programs, 2 music videos and 1 live-performance video. At this time, Noel was also performing to sold-out venues such as the Centre for Performing Arts, the Jubilee Auditorium, and many popular nightspots. Noel continued building a strong foundation in the underground Canadian Hip Hop scene and was nominated for an ARIA Award for best R&B Rap Single of the Year. His single gained popularity and momentum as it was heard throughout many Canadian cities on radio and in nightclubs. Noel soon began hosting Noel O’s Chocolate Thursdays nightclub in Calgary. This was ground breaking, given Calgary's country music roots. Noel O’s Chocolate Thursdays soon became the number 1 R&B Hip Hop Showcase in western Canada. When Noel was offered a development deal with A&M Records Canada, he packed his stuff and was on his way back to L.A.In L.A., Noel worked with Reggie Turner and the Williams Brothers of EMI Records and many other up-and-coming producers in the L.A. scene. Sensing a change in the industry, Noel soon decided to go back to his roots of independent music and start a new independent label based in L.A., O Town Records. Noel realized the need for funds and the proper team to bring his dream and label to life. This was easier said than done. Noel soon found himself out of money and living in his car. Determined to succeed, Noel continued to take meetings with various venture capitalists and music industry professionals until the momentum started to pay off. Noel was introduced to legendary record promoter Fred Rector, best known for breaking such acts as the Jackson 5, Michael Jackson, Madonna, and KC and the Sunshine Band. Fred found what he was looking for in young up-and-coming artist and visionary Noel Osborne. The chemistry could not be denied; Fred soon took Noel under his wing, grooming him as an artist as a son. After raising a considerable amount of money to fund his dream, Noel faced yet another crossroads. He quickly realized the money was not worth the potential outcome of moral conviction. Noel was forced to step away from his dream and reevaluate his plan, his vision and more importantly, his life. Noel fasted and prayed for 10 days in hope his path would be revealed to him.Within weeks, Noel was on his way to a meeting with legendary writer Terry Steele, best known for hit “Here and Now”, performed by Luther Vandros. Noel recalls “I was in church this Sunday … and the bishop looked out at me and said, 'Expect your miracle this week.' I remember I was about to get off the bus and go to the meeting when I said a little prayer to God, I’m still believing you for my miracle.” It was then Noel received a message on his pager. He had booked his first national TV commercial for Oldsmobile Alero. The ball was starting to roll for Noel.Noel began acting to pay the bills. He worked on and appeared in music videos with Madonna, Lenny Kravitz, the Offspring, and many others. Noel also starred in TV commercials for Miller Genuine Draft (Ireland), Benson and Hedges (UK), and Albertson’s Supermarkets. Noel was also fortunate enough to work on the television programs “Malcolm and Eddie (UPN Network), The Young and the Restless (CBS) and more.Noel soon put his focus back into his music. While visiting the set of Ricky Martin’s Living La Vida Loca video, Noel ran into an old friend Matt Godbey, who was producing his first independent feature film. Matt was looking for music to complete film “the Luxury of Love”. Noel was hired as music supervisor and executive producer of the soundtrack. As fate would have it, Noel was involved in a car accident on the 101 Freeway in L.A. As a result he met Santa Monica based chiropractor, Dr. Guirguis. A friendship developed.Inspired by Noel’s talent and determination, Dr. Guirguis joined Noel and Fred to finance and reform O Town Records. Together the 3 started on the journey towards the independent release of Noel Osborne’s first debut album. Noel was back in the studio with the AK Brothers and “The Introduction” was completed. After test marketing the first single “Spoke II Soon” in various markets throughout the U.S., Noel Osborne appeared to be on his way. Fred Rector employed his 30 years of talents and resources into the young man he called his son, Noel. Fred sent Noel to Miami to meet his dear friend and legendary song writer Noel “King Sporty” Williams, best known for writing the Bob Marley smash hit “Buffalo Soldier”. During Noel’s stay in Miami, he received a call from his assistant that Fred had passed away. Noel rushed back to L.A. “Pop was more then a friend, he was Pop… he was my mentor”. Noel continues, “We were hit with 9.11, and our finances were hit hard.”Noel found himself in an all-too familiar place. Facing eviction, his car repossessed, Noel found himself battling an all time low. “Every snake in Hollywood wanted to offer me a deal, but none had my best interests in mind”. Noel needed a break and went back home to Calgary to be with his family and friends.Refusing to give up on his dreams, Noel received an invitation from well-known health club executive Tony Capato to visit him in Miami. While in Miami, Noel fell in love with more then just the weather. “She was the most beautiful thing I ever saw…” Noel recalls. “We soon became close; I was traveling from L.A. to Miami on a weekly basis. It’s crazy what we do for love.” Although the relationship did not last, Noel remained in Miami. Inspired by the weather and the passion of South Beach. “South Beach is one of the friendliest places I have ever been, there is such a sense of community here.”Tony introduced Noel to Miami-based producer Nathan Taylor, soon after Noel started writing and recording a few of his songs for his new album “The Introduction Part II: My Heart Her World”. Again, money became an issue and the biggest challenge was completing the project. Soon after, South Beach realtor and businesswoman Tania Gomez joined Noel and Tony Capato to form OCG Entertainment Group.Recently Noel was given the honor of being the only performer at the exclusive opening of AJ Japour Gallery in South Beach, Miami featuring the Premier Exhibition, Art with A View, 21st Century Sculptural & 3-D Art & Salvador Dali Sculptures. In L.A. Noel and his music featured in a Playboy fashion show at the famous Conga Room owned by Jennifer Lopez.Noel is presently collaborating with up-and-coming and well-established producers in New York, Atlanta, Miami, L.A, and Canada. “My music is a reflection of my journey through life.” Noel continues, “It has elements of hip hop, pop, rock, roots, and R&B. I can’t really give it a name. Well… I guess it could be called Urban Nueveau or other pretentious name; I’ll get back to you on that. This is just my shit.”If the 30,000+ download hits over a 10 day period on internet-based file sharing programs and continued support from various Internet Radio broadcast stations are any indication of the success of Noel’s first independent single “Spoke II Soon”, released under O Entertainment Group Inc. we should expect great things from this young artist and visionary, Noel Osborne. .. allownetworking="internal" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.youtube.com/v/nhv2NS34FLU" height="350" width="425"
