About Me
MAKE-UP is my passion, it allows me to express my artistic nature... MAKE-UP is my connection to the world of visual art... MAKE-UP links me to the unbounded wealth of colors that GOD has created for us to behold.
I credit having two older sisters with my falling in love with EVERYTHING BEAUTY. Watching two fashionistas while growing up turned out to be a seduction of my interests. I was quite the tomboy until 8th grade – then it began. As a teen, I began to devour every beauty editorial in all of the top fashion magazines: Vogue©, Elle©, Essence©, Cosmopolitan©, Harper’s Bazaar© and Seventeen. I couldn’t get enough. I was ever-willing to spend my last $10 on an eyebrow pencil and two fashion rags. I would spend hours at the nearest store to browse the make-up lines and become familiar with every tool there was. I learned to sew at a very young age (Mommy made sure), so this was the time I started designing and sewing my own outfits to wear to school. So…of course I had to have nails and eye shadow to match. If my blouse had black and white stripes or a checkered pattern, then so did my nails and eyes. Eventually becoming a NAIL TECHNICIAN & MAKE-UP ARTIST was a natural progression.
I was able to further hone my skills in MAKE-UP ARTISTRY by fulfilling requests to paint faces at children’s birthday parties, doing make-up for friends going to prom, nail clients having portraits taken and acquaintances getting married. Being able to charge nominal fees for my cosmetic services and being a full-time Nail Tech kept shopping money in my purse. My first thought was consistently ‘the mall’. There, I could tighten up the wardrobe and play, try, test, sample and buy all of the make-up anyone could ever want. That part hasn’t changed much; it’s just that now, bills get priority consideration. I am a certifiable make-up maniac with no qualms about it. Now, with all of my favorite toys at my fingertips via the Internet, it’s just like when I was young. I can spend hours going to every company’s website to view new products, trends, looks, tips and photos from other professional artists. Then hit the malls and specialty stores after all of my INTENSIVE RESEARCH.
I have the utmost respect for make-up the artists who have reached the pinnacle of this industry. Their work speaks for itself:
Kevin Aucoin (RIP), Kabuki, Shutchai Tym Buacharern, Ross Burton, Viktorija Bowers, Rumiko, Reggie Wells, Pat McGrath, Paul Starr, Ayako Yoshimura, Meghan McClain, Sonia Kashuk, Sam Fine, Francesca Tolot, Sylvia Dell 'Orto, Billy B, Candace Corey, Marina Anderson, Yuki Wada, James Boehmer, Susan Giordano, Scott Barnes, Alice Ghendrih, Fran Cooper, Justin Henry, Erin Shaw, Carmindy, Alexis Vogel, Kelley Quan, Lydia Snyder, Ralph Siciliano, Francois Nars, Diane Kendal, Eric Ferrell, Mally Roncal, Valente Frazier, Leanne Hirsh, Tom Pecheux, Charlotte Tilbury, Mary Quant, Bobbi Brown, Charlie Green, Ashunta Sheriff and many, many more.
My very prominent individualistic personality fits quite well with being a FREE-LANCE MAKE-UP ARTIST. I believe in having the freedom to be who you are, therefore - it is very important to surround oneself with people and activities that will be conducive to your growth and individuality.
I believe in working hard and long – and I can never do enough make-up. It is new and exciting with EVERY FACE!
It would be my pleasure to provide COMPLETE make-up services to ALL actors, singers, models, brides, dancers, comedians, politicians, corporate executives and anyone who has to present their best self. I am at your service. The most famous face that I have been blessed to apply make-up to happens to be Civil Rights Icon, MRS. ROSA PARKS. Truly an honor.
