The Rogers Spring Music Festival is a celebration of music that showcases between 50 and 100 of the hottest 'buzz acts' from Canada and the US. It will take place May 7-9, 2009 at more than 12 live music venues in the city of Hamilton, Ontario.
Selected artists will be compensated for their performances. Regional artists will receive a $50 stipend to offset travel costs and artists from outside the region will receive lodging and meals. For artists with larger draws, larger financial compensations will be offered. Festival management will work with each artist to ensure maximum media coverage.
The festival will bring in headlining and touring bands. All selected artists will be considered for support at these concerts. Also, your band can be chosen as one of the participating bands in the Rogers/Y108 Breakout Band Challenge. This year, more than 100 bands are expected to battle it out at various venues across Ontario for chance to win more than $10,000 in prizes, recording time and a feature on Y108 FM.
All genres of music accepted with a focus on rock, heavy music/new metal and reggae/ska showcases. All bands are eligible.
Past performers include: Three Days Grace, The Trews, The Tea Party, IllScarlet, The Tea Party, Tomi Swick, Threat Signal, Jack DeKeyser, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, Cancer Bats, The Marble Index, Junkhouse, Ryan Malcolm, Grady, Ron Sexsmith, Cursed, Social Code, Robin Black, Kevin Hearn (BNL) and many more
