About Me

This is a performer page doubling as a personal page, focusing on projects I am in and have been previously been involved, posting photos I find online of my hijinks. I've been mostly "friending" people I know in the real world, bands I've played with, interesting bands that friends are in, some stellar brass bands from around the world, a handfull of friendly circus people, freak bike clubs, fire spinners, alley cat folks, things like that. Of course, feel free to send me a kind message!

Band Website: Here and there... honkfest.org says it well
Band Members: Currently on tour playing with the Underscore Orkestra... Recent (ongoing...) performance projects: * Touring - Blackberry Wood, it's sort of bar mitzvah meets barn dance circus music... - Orkestar Slivovica, a Balkan brass band with vest appeal... * When in Chicago - Get Up and the Get Downs, a punk band turned james brown cover big band, playing alto sax... - Chicago Aissawa, a Moroccan percussion ensemble, playing frame drum, etc... - also, busking with hand puppets (gig for years now). * When in NYC - the defunct but worth noting TTPOOH and the GUYPM Massive (busking), old timey 80s covers, singing and playing soprano, bass drum, and percussion... - also, sitting or guesting with any brass band I can............ The history, music wise, is such: I played sax and performed in and recorded with Environmental Encroachment for over three years, played and made a recording with Black Bear Combo, performed and spoke at Honk Fest in Boston, helped out with Honk West in Seattle last year while performing with EE and the Hungry March Band and played this year with Emperor Norton's Stationary March Band and jumped in with several other bands, played a few shows with Rude Mechanical Orchestra and with the HMB out in NYC a while back, marched with the AAA Marching Band in Chicago, and sat in with some more marching bands on the coasts. I played on the earlier half of March Fourth Marching Band's first national tour and played and danced on all of Hungry March Band's first West Coast tour. Last year for mardi gras I went down to new orleans with my soprano - just in case - and wound up in the Eris and Crew de Poux parades with friends from all over the country, joy! I've also played with bizarre improv groups and blues/funk bands as well as in theatre pit orchestras. I've played at Burning Man decompression parties in three different cities and of course on the playa. Later on last year, I was swept off my feet by Blackberry Wood, saxing and singing and dancing my way along their crazy ragtime ride for a bit, playing London (including the Thames Festival) last year and then touring England this summer and playing three stages at Glastonbury. I also played Bike Prom with Orkestar Slivovica, which was a blast. Marching band wise, I hung out in New York a bit after the last Honk Festival (Boston) and the shows in Providence, playing soprano and dancing with the Hungry March Band and jamming and running around the city with Titubanda. This past Honk West (Seattle) I played sopranino with Emperor Norton's Stationary Marching Band from Boston and sat in with various other brass bands. I also do puppetry, a bit of theatre (a few companies in Chicago and at the Toronto Fringe) and tech, performance art... I stiltwalk, hoop, spin stuff, dance, ride bikes, fabricate fanciful things, etc. ... and I know a lot of fantastic folks who do many fabulous things!
Influences: Oh so many... I'll tell you another time.
Sounds Like: Sopranino! Yes, the other two options weren't high enough. Anyway... Marching band madness, street band revelry, moroccan/cuban funk, Burning Man at sunset, "gypsy" brass band joy, unleashed circus music box, dancing music. Looks like a roving band or two, crazy costumes, puppets, stilt walking, hula hooping, poi spinning, fire dancing, wonderful chaos. When not performing, lots of travelling, rummaging through junk, attempting to speak eloquently in French, dreaming, riding fast bikes, cargo trikes, freak bikes. Vagabond and transient for years now. Feeds herself most often by street performing or tricycling an urban chariot.
