About Me

"Okay, I hate it when reviewers compare new artists to pre-existing ones-how many times have we heard that so-and-so sounds like Ani DiFranco?-but I'm going to go ahead and do it anyway. On this, her debut CD, Sandra Taylor's piano-pop stylings remind me quite a bit of 'Kick Inside' era Kate Bush. There's an undeniable vocal similarity and a playfulness to these 11 piano originals (which also bring to mind Keith Jarrett) that strike the same kind of chord with me. Perhaps it's Taylor's classical training or perhaps it's her fresh, young songwriting approach, but when I listen to 'Stretch Out' I hear good things to come and just can't help smiling. Granted, this is a fairly simple debut-just Taylor and her piano-but that in itself is quite refreshing in these days of box-of-a-thousand-tricks computer enhancements. Whipped Cream

The discovery of the week is:you can whip cream really easily just by shaking it for a few minutes in a glass jar. A bit of honey, very yummy.Try it at home, kids!
