About Me

Hello, and welcome to my page! Since I was little I've always been drawn to different kinds of music, and some of the mix of what I do is up here: classical, Ska, African drumming, song, capoeira, violin, viola, dubstep...
Highlights of the last year include singing in Carnegie Hall with Bobby McFerrin, playing violin with Zakir Hussain, performing at the Malian 'Festival Au Desert', and directing a Baroque capoeira ballet with Mestre Ponciano at LSO St Luke's with the London group I play for, the Aurora Orchestra. I write music for my band the WORM, which is a mix of Malian music, garage and reggae. I play violin in it, plucked in the style of an ngoni (Malian lute), sing and bosh the calabash (a dried African gourd) with Andre Marmot and Niccie Simpson to make bouncy dance music. I play fiddle in the Brothers Bab, organize Wormfood nights in London, am principal violist in the Aurora Orchestra, and have founded my own summer school, Es Muss Sein (www.es-muss-sein.org). I'm also a founding member of the Antic Establishment, which held its first festival the Antic Banquet in September, and will be running the Valley of the Antics stage at the Secret Garden Party Festival this summer again. I have a degree in Political Science from Cambridge University but it's down in a drawer somewhere because I want to PLAY!
If you would like to get in touch please email me on [email protected] and visit my band sites wormfoodlondon and brothersbab (amongst my friends below). Thanks for listening!
