Silicon Attic was formed around 1997 by Yacco Vijn. At the time Yacco was a full-time DJ, playing gigs all over the world. Silicon Attic signed to respected British label
Blueroom Released in 1998, releasing the experimental E.P. 'Arecibo Calling' - produced by
Jens Waldebäck (Cwithe, Juno Reactor).
As a DJ, Yacco was resident at legendary Mazzo (Amsterdam) and regular guest DJ at clubs like
REX in Paris, Alonby & BPM in Tel Aviv, Shambala in Vienna and parties in Holland, Switserland, Denmark, Sweden, Austria, Africa, Israel, France and the UK. Radio performances include Radio FG (France), Radio 100 (Amsterdam) and New Dance Radio (Netherlands).
Some breakbeat bonanza in the form of 'Sonic Beatboxing' under the DarkFader alias got released on 'Iconoblast', a compiliaton CD on Symbiosis Records (UK) in 1998. Some other aliases/side projects are Random Flashback (Input records), MFTB (Polydor), Expander (Polydor).Some press on Silicon Attic: DJ Magazine 'Totally out there' / WAX Magazine '9 out of 10' / Mixmag: 'Interesting' / Implant Magazine: 'Quite unique'.
Silicon Attic's 'The Gas' (Exclusive on the Blueroom Released 'More Signs of Life' compilation CD) was also featured on the cover CD of
CMJ Magazine (USA) alongside artists like Beck, Incubus and U.N.K.L.E.
Silicon Attic hasn't released anything for about 200 years but it might be very possible that some new material will finally be unleashed.
