people who are naas.
SOME FLYERS & ARTWORK
Shane Durrant (Desmond & The Tutus) and Angie Batis (Photographer extraordinaire) designed this flyer above. I'm sure you'll agree: It's awesome

EASYSENT!ALS
So i thought it was about time I took down my Best Of '06 List, it being fucking April now. And time to tell you whats been rocking my world in '07 so far.
KINGS OF LEON - Because Of The Times
Allright, is it just me or are these guys the most awesome band in the whole fucking world ever! First they come scorching out the blocks with 2 rip-roaring albums of good times rock 'n roll, and now this!
Well, lemme just tell you, its amazing. The sound has definitely changed, theyve matured, theyve experimented more... blah blah blah. It's fucking amazing! Thats all you really need to know.
The whole album rules, but lemme try point out some of my highlights.
The first single, On Call is amazing, but more of a ballad, but when Caleb wails 'I'll Be There" you know he will. Then there's My Party, a stormer which, in a just world, will be rocking hip dancefloors acroos the indieland. Ragoo, The Runner, Knocked Up, Fans, True Love Way....all amazing.
Angie says they are so so handsome too, but i'm about the music man.
okay, i must admit, they do look pretty cute in them tight jeans. And okay, nice hair too.
It's gonna be hard for me to gush about any other albums like that one, but here's another few i'm feeling.
MODEST MOUSE - We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank
Damn, i'd been looking so fwd to this. I've loved them for ages, and the prospect of Johnny Marr (The Smiths) joining them on guitar was almost too much to handle.
Once again theyve delivered. In true MM style, its an album that develops the more you listen but standouts are Dashboard, We've Got Everything and my personal favourite Florida. Great album.
SUBURBAN KIDS WITH BIBLICAL NAMES - #3
Damnit, i love love love this band. They had 2 EP's out before this caleed, yup...you guessed it..#1 and #2. Anyway, most of the killer tracks are on this album. They are Swedish and they make brilliant sweet crazy pop. I love most swedish bands actually. But these guys are my total fav's. They sometimes remin=d me of The Magnetic Fields, who are also awesome by the way. But mostly they just make me want to sing and dance. Favs = Funeral Face, Rent A Wreck & Love Will, but like i said, it's all good.
JAMIE T - Panic Prevention
Jamie T, from the grimey streets of the UK pitches himself somewhere between Mike Skinner (The Streets) and Pete Doherty (The Crackpipe). So yeah, it's his strong accent, its hiphop, its ska, its guitar, its all that n more. You've probably heard the single Sheila, which is tops, but Back In The Game and Operation are naas too. Check it out, i love it much much.
THE RAPTURE - Pieces Of The People We Love
More accesible second album from indie dance crossover pioneers. W.A.Y.U.H just KILLS the dancefloors. Get Myself Into It is a great way to start any set. The title track rules too but the sleeper hit in there is First Gear. Man, by the end you're in that Mustang Ford going 300mph on the highway to awesome.
BRAKES - Beautific Visions
It's naas. You'll laaik it. All swinging rock n roll. No, thats a lie. There's beautiful slow ballads in there too. Aah, just listen to it.
OF MONTREAL - Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?
He's from...um...Montreal. What the hell is going on there? A mad scene that's what!
I like this guy! Anyone who writes an album full of off-centre electroniccy kooky poppy happy groovy songs about his seething hate for his ex who ditched him is okay with me. The coolest thing about it is that he's since hooked up with her again. Haha, i'd love to see her face at the show s when he sings " I wanna pay another girl to go up and hit her!" It's awesome, check out She's A Rejector, Heimdalsgate Like a Promethean Curse and Gronlandic Edit for good examples of this funky weird-ass awesometicity.
COLD WAR KIDS - Robbers & Cowards
Rad album, maybe they are from Montreal too. Not really sure how to describe them, but if you're feeling The Arcade Fire, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah et al, then you'll be feeling them too.
Last year there was a single called Hospital Beds which bust them onto the scene. Its on the album alongside other brilliant tracks like Hang Me Up To Dry and We Used To Vacation. Get it. You'll like it.
POP LEVI - The Return To Form Black Magick Party
He's one half of Ladytron, but I think he rules 2x more. Dude, this album is skill.
Eclectic mix of funk fun funky fun fun funk. Checkout Pick Me Up Uppercut on a dancefloor near you soon, Flirting which sounds like it came out a jukebox in a 50's diner, Dollar Bill Rock which is like Jimi Hendrix and Prince and idunnowhatelse. Oh, just check out the whole album, it all rules!
WILLY MASON - If The Ocean Gets Rough
This kid is amazing. He releases that amazing first album at just 19yrs old. Since then he's supported the like of Arcade Fire. And now this thing of beauty, at 21yrs old he's singing like a troubadour thats been round the block a few times. You can hear the hardship in his voice. Riptide just tears me apart, but once again, the whole album is brilliant. Big future here.
ARCTIC MONKEYS- Favourite Worst Nightmare
You know what? I never really went for the Arctic Monkeys. I didnt buy into the hype so I never really fell for that last album. But this new one is really fuckin' doing it for me. I'm so sorry I ever doubted them. I wasnt mad impressed by "brianstorm" the early single, but since getting the album i just can't stop listening to it. Teddy Picker, Flourescent Adolescent and Old Yellow Bricks really stand out but its just solid all the way. I'm so glad they proved me wrong. Played Old Yellow Bricks out the other night and it rocked the floor right. Bring it On.
On the home front, a little birdie told me that both my favourite 2 local bands The Privates and Desmond & The Tutus have albums on the way. NOW ISNT THAT EXCITING NEWS! Check this space for news!
