ABOUT CHRISTIE:
She steps up to the mic and fearlessly pours her heart out right in front of you. Her honest, genuine songwriting is both uplifting and thoughtful, while her voice is powerful but unique.
In the few years since she started performing, Christie Leigh has become a stunning force on the indie music scene, with a growing fan base and an unshakable career.
She released her third CD in 2007, the award-winning, "When You Need a Moment", and is already back in the studio working on another project.
Christie was born and raised in Franklin, Massachusetts, where she started performing as a young child in local theatre groups and choir. Her father had a rock and roll band that rehearsed in the basement and she was the girl with her ear pressed to the door. It was during those early years she developed her love of classic sounds like country, rock and blues.
Christie's first taste of songwriting was merely for fun, writing funny songs to entertain her younger sister, Candice, who has cerebral palsy. The two sisters were inseparable for most of their childhood, and shared an indescribeable bond. Candice is unable to walk or read or write, so the one thing she enjoys more than anything is music. In 2008, Christie organized a benefit for United Cerebral Palsy with the Pat McGee Band and raised $3000 for the cause. Candice was right in the front row as Christie's band opened the show.
Christie's discography includes "The Viper Sessions" and "Live at Perks", both live acoustic CDs, as well as her "Strange Little Story" EP, which she released in 2005 with an impressive three week tour thru New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina and Florida.
In 2007, after releasing her new EP "When You Need a Moment", Christie was given numerous accolades for her writing. The title track from the EP has gone on to become a finalist in the American Idol Songwriter Contest, Billboard World Song Contest and International Songwriting Contest, as well as being considered for various television placements.
With a marketing degree from Emerson College, Christie founded CNC Music Productions in 2003. CNC provides tour booking and development for independent artists, and is responsible for booking Indie Rock Parade at Harpers Ferry, Indie Underground at Baggot Inn in NYC, Midtown Lounge Music Series at Kennedy's Midtown, All-Night Marathon at All Asia and various other events throughout the area.
In 2008, Christie continues to perform solo and with her band, while working in the studio toward a full-length release.
Christie also volunteers for United Cerebral Palsy and hopes someday to develop her own non-profit to help end the 3,000 person waiting list of disabled citizens in Massachusetts without adequate housing.
