My name is Derek.
I was the singer/songwriter for a band called HOOCH for the last 6 years and I am currently working on a new act called THE SOAPBOX PROJECT. It is a work in progress but the album is nearing completion and we will be putting up tracks, video, and promotional materials on a new site that is currently under construction. Please keep your eyes and ears on this page often for all of the news and updates!!!!
I have been booked to all of the areas top festivals including Summerfest, 10,000 Lakes Festival, Wookiefoot's Harvestfest, Feel Good Festival, Grateful Garcia Gathering, Campout Roots Festival, Juliapalooza w/Atmosphere, Blottopia in Chicago, and many others with my last band Hooch. We recorded our last full length album in Ojai,California and we had Jimmy Newquist from Caroline's Spine co-producing with Grammy Nominated producer Dwight Marcus who also handled the mixing. The album was also mastered by Multiple Grammy Winner Doug Sax at The Mastering Lab in L.A.
Hooch had been touring extensively for the last six and half years, building a strong fan base all around the midwest. I just recently ventured out on my own to focus on the material that I write that I didn't feel fit the context of the Hooch thing. With stops already locked down in WI, MN, IA, ND, SD, IL, NM, and CA, I am looking to expand even more until I am touring the country on full time basis.....
