About Me
I write music for a variety of reasons.
"Who's Gonna Care" was written after a friend died, and his memorial was overcrowded with fans of his band. The service was so crowded that I couldn't get in. He was on the way to becoming a rock star, and I think it took away from who he was as a person. It made me think about what it's going to be like when I die, without thousands of adoring fans, compilations cds of my songs, and seemingly the entire community supporting me."The Night I Die" is a fictional song about a real problem. There are people, often children, who feel like they are invisible. Their parents don't seem to give them any attention, and so they try in horrible and ridiculous ways to get it. Incidentally, a friend killed himself March 31, 2005, and it reminds me of this song. We rarely notice these things before they happen, and if we do, we often feel like it's none of our business. The older I get, the more I feel like it is my business, because decisions like this impact my life."I Survived" is a simple testament to my faith in Jesus Christ. I would not be here and happy without Him. I have had many personal struggles and have chosen to live my life away from God in the past. After making a commitment to a relationship with God through Christ, my life is very fulfilling. I still have to deal with things that I don't like, but the way in which I process them has changed. I know that He is in control, and I'm glad. These songs were recorded by Robinson Eikenberry in October 2003. Alastair Greene (look him up on MySpace!) played guitar on the first song, Eric Shiflett played violin on the second, and my brother, Jef Kirchmaier, played drums and percussion on all three. Robinson sang backing vocals on the first two. He also played dulcimer on the third.
