The Others

WELCOME TO OTHERWHERE. This is The Others: potent stuff, kickass riffs in a hardcore and punk punch, spiked with power pop melodies. And all you can see up on the stage is funky Ben Williams love-smacking his guitar, kooky little Anny Moore bopping around wearing bass, mini skirt and combat boots, and underneath it all the earthquake double bass drum attacks of William Lavallée. That’s The Others: some kind of Molotov cocktail party, the kind you wish would never end and are glad you don’t have to clean up after. They’re dangerously contagious, they’ve got more energy than you’ll ever have, and if you’re not diving from the stage near the end of the show you’ll be lining up to tattoo their lyrics under your hot skin. The Others was: born in the rich eco-system of cover band swamp land, where bands bloom and die and are reborn every day. One bright day in 2004 The Others crawled out of that amphibious land, having lost a lead singer but found a drummer; by 2006 Williams, Moore and Lavallée had fused into a solid mass of wholly original rock. Now The Others are: playing their own tune, dancing their own beat, winning the Musicalitée 2006 contest, selling their 2006 ten-song self-titled LP at every one of the rocking 40 gigs a year throughout Montreal, and finally, recording a new album due next summer.
