No Time For the Disingenuous, I'm too Treal

What it Doooo!!! Anyway, My name is Russell, and I was born and raised in Cali. After about a 1 1/2 year hiatus from school, I have returned as a senior at UC Santa Barbara, and am double majoring in Philosophy and Black Studies. I want to attend Law School at UCLA and become a Lawyer for the ACLU(American Civil Liberties Union). I eventually want to be a Justice for the supreme court, but that dream is one to be attained in the distant future so I'll concentrate more on the "now". I'm half-Haitian and Half-Costa Rican. I'm deeply proud of my culture and my heritage. Having come from 2 parents of different cultural backgrounds, religous beliefs, and life experiences; I have learned to be open-minded and insightful to the fact that no matter how different we all appear to be, we all have the same desires from life. We all want to be healthy, to love and be loved, and to be happy. Whatever method we go about obtaining these desires may differ, but the goals are the same. I believe that diversity in culture, race, and religion is a gift, and that many of us are so blind to its true beauty, the beauty of life. Too many times we, especially American society, are too focused on the superficial, the cosmetic, the aesthetic, to realize that we are hurting ourselves in the process. Instead of coming together to help one another, we create distinctions based on hate and ignorance...and that has to change. On another note, I love music with a passion, and it never ceases to amaze me how 4 minutes of poetry can paint you a picture as clear as any Van Gogh. I love sports and am very competitive, but it's that spirit that gives me an edge in many aspects of my life. I'm in love with a special girl named Patty and she's the air that I breathe. She keeps me grounded and focused, and I'm lucky to have someone who cares enough to put up with me. I love to laugh and make others laugh, so I'm constantly cracking jokes or acting stupidly. Life is too hard to spend your time serious all the time. However, I can listen and have an intelligent conversation with you. If you know all these things about me already, then you're probably one of my closest friends.
