-Aerosmith- 'cause it was my first concert and what I dream myself to be doing in the future, playing my music and having fun with it. Also cause they are the most influential band in the world. Their music spands 3 decades and still going strong. With songs like Dream on, Janie's Gotta Gun, Sweet Emotions, Love in an Elevator, Crazy, Jaded, Pink, and the first Rock/Rap cross over cover: Walk This Way, pitting them together with RUN DMC.
-The Beatles-The BEST BAND EVER..PERIOD, and the inovators of modern ROCK.
-Sir Paul McCartney-Set the stage for all rock Bassist.
-Eric Clapton- One of my Guitar heroes and leading Blues/Rock guitarists.
-Jimi Hendrix- The man who revolutionized the ROCK scene in the 60's & 70's. He brought new sounds that have never been heard before, harnessing the previously annoying sounds of fead back and using it as another color in his arsenal.
-Bela Fleck and the Flecktones- Another great but very underground band and THE BEST bass player alive.
-Victor "Lamont" Wooten-Bela's bass player and also Solo artist, he is still reinventing and always finding new sounds, techniques, and just beauty on the bass.
-Led Zeppelin -One of the most unique sounds for a band in the history on rock. They could start a tune and you knew IMMEDIATELY who it was, thanks to the lyrics and natural power and beauty and sometimes pain and soul of Robert Plants's voice and the lyrical and almost out of this world sounds of Jimi Pages's Guitar, John Bonham's Drums with the phase shifts and just pure genius of John Paul Jones's bass playing. AHHH talk about a super group, who everyone wanted to be like, including the one's at the top of this list, Aerosmith.
-Weather Report-the first Great Jazz/Fusion bands, bringing together such greats as Wyane Shorter and Jaco Pastorius
-Jaco Pastorius-The INNOVATOR of the Modern Bass playing, he "created" The beauty and art of playing harmonics on the bass, and creating magic. Possibly the Jimi Hendrex of the bass.
-Marcus Miller- Master of the Lyrical Slap bass technique, using his slap and pop to creat a sound all his own, writing and rearranging familiar tunes with his gospel/Funk inspired groove..
-The Chili Peppers- Just an all around great band and great bass player.
-Flea- The new age Paul McCartney, breaking molds and setting precedent on his bass by creating an image all his own and rejuvenating the art of the bass. .
Just to name a few...
