I've had the honor of meeting and shaking hands with some of the people I greatly admire and respect in music, from Junior Wells and Luther Allison to John Hammond, Jr., from Townes Van Zandt and John Hartford to Cowboy Jack Clement. Played pinball next to Waylon once. Way back when I was married, Willie invited my beautiful waitress wife (and, noblesse oblige, me) to a party in his hotel room after a concert, but we didn't go. Among the well-known artists and songwriters it would give me particular pleasure to meet are Bob Dylan, Kris Kristofferson, John Prine, Guy Clark, Willie Nelson, Bobby Bare, Don Williams, Jerry Jeff Walker, Billy Joe Shaver, Paul Simon, Leonard Cohen, Tom Petty, Paul McCartney, and quite a few others who've had impact and/or influence on me. But I'm just as pleased and proud to shake the hand of any unknown artist or songwriter whose work I admire. After all, it's all for the love of the song.
