Rekku and Frank met each other during the first weeks of high school. They ended up talking about music, Frank seemed to be a real conoisseur of trip hop and drum&bass and whatnot, Rekku was a drummer, mainly interested in playing jazz and funk. Frank told that he can use the Pro Tools (he lied, but eventually learned) so they decided to make some music together. The first songs were put together by the only 4 jazzy sounding chords Rekku knew and some live drum beats, recorded with only one microphone. We still have only that one mic, but during those couple of years of denying the fact that we could´t produce proper music, we actually learned, and the fantasy became reality...
In the summer of 2004 these two young men from the post-industrial metropolis of Helsinki came to Berlin with just one thought in their heads, where to get the cheapest beer!? After hours of big emotions, like disappointment, despair, and of course, thirst, they were adviced by the coin of fate (?) to ask a random turkish guy where to buy some beer. "From my shop!", he replied with glee. And thus Pilsator was found, and 2 hours later, founded. Of course, a band called "Pilsator" was to make "in to the ass without lubrication-elektro" but over the years we grew softer, and on this very website you can hear the outcome.Enjoy. We do too.
