About Me

DocHouse is a non-profit organisation, established in 2002, to promote Independent Documentary in the UK by developing new audiences and nurturing filmmaking talent. Its many activities include regular DocHouse screenings at venues across London, training courses, and special screenings and events.We also have strong international links to the documentary community worldwide and recently expanded to include DocHouse-Brussels.DocHouse works in collaboration with a wide group of organisations including the BBC, Tate Modern, the National Film and Television School, Goldsmiths College, BAFTA, The Frontline Club and Film London.Screenings and Events:DocHouse screens outstanding international documentary films at venues across London, including the Riverside, Barbican, ICA and Ritzy cinemas. Independent on SundayDocHouse Masterclasses enable audiences to question, watch and learn as leading directors discuss their work and influences, showing clips ranging from rarely-seen early films to current work in progress. "DocHouse is excellent."Time OutTraining and Education:Summerdocs: An annual collaboration with the National Film and Television School since 2004. Seven students make a documentary in seven weeks trained by tutors including: Kim Longinotto, Nick Broomfield, Marc Isaacs and Sean McAllister. "This course has been a huge service and inspiration." (course student)Across Borders: In collaboration with Tate Modern, this course explored the boundary between documentary and artists film and video. "Excellent teaching, very well structured, I will never think of documentary in the same way again."(course student)DocHistory: Supported by Film London, Riverside Studios and the Barbican cinema and the BBC. This innovative course charts the history of documentary from the Lumière Brothers to Michael Moore. "I thought the course was excellent. I have learned so much over the six sessions, I feel this knowledge will strongly inform my work as a programme-maker."
