About Me

MiNDSET's discovery and love of electronic music began at an early age. He reminisces, "I was only 9 or 10 years old when Axel F's Clock was released. I had never heard anything like it and was so excited by the new music. I laugh looking back, as I played Clock on repeat through this little ghetto blaster which I carried everywhere"Already feeling strongly addicted to the music, the search had begun for similar styles. He was soon to be exposed to the raw hardcore sounds that were being championed by the likes of Top Buzz and Ratty, which he was soon to become immersed in. By 1993, with a large mix tape collection and a bedroom wall plastered in event flyers, he was able to purchase his first set of turntables. He started playing jungle techno which was soon to mutate into jungle and then finally drum and bass.Whilst covering the whole spectrum of drum and bass, it is often the deeper end of the music will find its secure place in his record box, whether its hard or fluid. He expresses his passion for the music - "drum and bass is a giant melting pot of so many different styles and influences. Its future music happening right now and I admire the energy and emotion which the music can create. The music is also very visual for me and generates many images in my mind".Depth is a key feature during his sets and he always attempts to create a musical journey for the listeners. Whilst being a firm believer in sticking to his guns, he will never be caught bashing anthems (insert Paradox quote here). At present, he is a resident DJ for Urban Bass (www.urbanbass.co.uk) and Slam on the Breaks (www.slamonthebreaks.co.uk), both of which are promotions based in Swansea, South Wales. Also, he plays on the popular online radio station (www.ukbassradio.co.uk). He currently has two shows - Wednesdays (The Filtering Silence Show 6-7pm) and Sundays (Sunday Roast 4-5pm)
