My name is Kelley McGee and I am a fine art painter. I was born and raised in San Diego, California and I continue to survive and work here to this day.
I have been studying and working in the art community since the age of three when my father would draw with me for hours with graphite and notebook paper on the kitchen table. My schooling began in 7th grade and continues still. My advanced education began with the Academy of the Arts University in San Francisco for one full year where I studied the foundations of my art career, including still lives, nudes, sculpting, color theory, painting, charcoal, graphite, pen and ink, watercolor and graphic design.
I ran a small muraling business after returning to San Diego. I worked and completed a total of 7 murals in the year following my return, ranging from formal landscapes to animated bible characters.
After a year of freelance work I returned to school where I currently attend Palomar College in San Marcos, California. I study art history with an emphasis in museum education. If I can’t spend all of my time in the studio I’ll spend some of it in the museum.
Other than studying, I paint. I paint whatever I see that imprints itself into my mind. Sometimes it’s the sunset off of a pier or a rose my mother grew, and sometimes it’s the sadness in my heart or the love of a rock star.My life is not worth living if I can’t be surrounded by my art.
