Xiii (pronounced "Thirteen") are a Heavy/Thrash Metal band hailing from the great city of Hull. Their influences include many 1980's influences, including Metallica and Megadeth, but also include the likes of Thin Lizzy and Johnny Cash. Other influences include, Machine Head, Kreator, Trivium and Annihilator.
The band started in 2006 with Dan Murray, whose influences lie mainly in 1980's thrash bands. Danny then enlisted the thundering bass talents of James Oxtoby (influences = EVERYTHING), who brings a raw energy and humour in his antics and songwriting to the table which means there is rarely a dull moment in any of the bands dealings. Finally, they were introduced to drummer Alex O'Dwyer whose influences mainly come from some of the same 80's thrash bands that Dan is inspired by, so a connection was made in an instant. The band has started to produce a number of songs that show a renaissance of the scene that bands such as Metallica and Megadeth came from, and are hoping to have more completed tracks uploaded soon. They also recently recorded a promotional video and had photos taken during a band practice, which were filmed by A-List director Matty Derrick and class photographer Stephanie Murray. These have been uploaded onto this site, and there is much more to come...
In recent months, Xiii's original guitarist quit the band due musical differences, and so the search was on to find a replacement. After a handful of people applied, Mark Storr was finally chosen because of his amazing guitar skills, similar musical influences to the rest of the band, and personality. Xiii hopes you will all join them in giving him a HUGE Xiii welcome and show your support for what is now, with the help of Mark and his talents, a brute force to be reckoned with.
