popa bear was born benjamin ryan gilbert on 18 oct 1983. born in michigan due to his father being a total F*(%head didnt fit in well with others. except for in band class where he played both the alto sax and was on drum line. popa bear then moved to texas at age 14.(though texas is where he should have been born in the first place.) where his music hit new highs still being on the drum line at smithson valley high school. after getting out of school early to join the army popa bear hit a road block on life as that the army didnt take him right away. he spent nearly two years working odd jobs and building a skill in welding. after paying for the birth of what he belives is his son shawn allen fisher. the mother who shall remain namless left him broken hearted and broke. just before becoming homeless. popa bear got a call from uncle sam. the army will take you now. wow what a break he thought. after compleating basic training at fort knox kentuky and the ait at aberdeen proving grounds maryland.in of course welding he was sent to south korea. a shock indeed. this is where he met his beautiful and talented wife tina who sings under the name thina friend 1 on the list. there now residing in hawaii on the island of oahu and popa bear is still in the army is making plans to hit big in the music world
