The above was written about SiD's promo-CD. SiD was started at the end of 2006 by 4 music freaks, with a bass, a DIY mentality, acoustic drums, a smoke machine- and strobe fetish, a healthy dislike of physically present singers, an electric guitar, a mind of their own, an in-your-face attitude, and a laptop. After an abundance of live performances SiD stands for a unique mixture of dance & metal, rock & rave, funk & punk, distortion & disco balls; but it especially makes you wanna dance indeed!
3voor12/Tilburg (June 2007) described the bands live act as follows: "A promising show was SiDs, a new band from Tilburg playing 'crossover dance metal'. On Myspace it sounded intrigueing: housebeats and well known samples mashed with massive riffs and live drums".
Live XS (Nov. 2007) described the CD as: "After hearing the song 'Can't Stop Now', containing a sample from Yazoos 'Don't Go', the guys just cant go wrong anymore. But the other three songs (Splinter, Smokemachine en Discoballs) also have tight grooves and catchy samples".
Fret (Dec. 2007) reviewed: "Especially opener (Shiny) Discoballs is a brick house and because of its corniness, apt computer sounds and fat chorus a lot of fun to listen to. And super groovy at the same time, because the exciting and straightforward beat makes ample pace and, combined with the other instruments, makes it a hypnotising dance track".
And Musicfrom.nl (Jan. 2008) wrote: "It boils down to the four guys deciding to only use samples from more or less well known songs in their brew of dance and metal. Which, at the same time steers them clear of the necessity of a real-life singer and allows them to play a very original hybrid type of music. The second track 'Can't Stop Now' starts off like a real nineties dance hit, such as 'Rhythm Is A Dancer'. And here too the metal parts make it bounce back to the SiD frame. 'Smokemachine' then is the type of song built up like Tiësto would. The final track, with the preaching sample, resembles a hard rock variety to Faithless". On '(Shiny) Discoballs': "Massive guitar licks with computer sounds bleeping all over, and a well chosen sample which deals with drugs, rock'n roll and 'shiny discoballs'. The song is well built up. Its pretty overwhelming, while the nicely built up bridge takes care of the necessary variety".
