Originally from the UK, I've been living in Vancouver, Canada for the last five years. I discovered the blues at an early age mainly through Jimi, Eric, Led Zep and SRV. I soon worked my way back via Muddy, Howlin Wolf, and Sonny Boy, and started listening to guys like Robert Johnson, John Lee Hooker, and Lightnin' Hopkins. The raw power of this music had it's teeth into me and eventually I decided I just had to try and play it for myself. I started out playing acoustic fingerstyle blues and slide guitar, and later I began playing electric and getting into the Chicago and Texas sounds, and I've been playing ever since. I've also dabbled with harmonica, keyboards, bass and drums just for fun.
Eventually, I began listening to bluesy jazz players like Kenny Burrell, Grant Green and early George Benson, and then exploring jazz more and more. Suddenly all those blues licks I'd been playing started to sound a little stale! I also wanted to get into music theory a little, so I started on the path of studying jazz guitar, and trying to incorporate some of those sounds into my playing.
