At last a breath of fresh air in the RnB world. Delivering melodies with a hint of old times and seasonings of heaven, singer- songwriter LaVal is definitely on the rise to claiming her crown as the Princess of RnB / Soul. Born in South Los Angeles, California LaVal discovered a love for music at a very early age. With a growing interest in the art she became a member of The New Birth Baptist church choir where she began flexing her chords. This enabled her to develop undeniable vocal skills which lead to the request of her appearance in numerous church musicals and talent shows throughout Los Angeles and Orange County . Raised by a single mother of ten, LaVal being the youngest brought on alot of challenges for this young songstress throughout her youth. Dealing with the struggles of unhealthy relationships, the reality of poverty and the absence of her father brought alot of emotional pain. Determined to be free from a world of confusion LaVal began writing songs as a form of release. Establishing relationships with local producers gave her the opportunity to not only record but perform her material in many venues drawing hundreds to catch an earful of the soulful sound of this rising star. Egar to spread her sound to the masses LaVal auditioned for various gigs that led to meetings with record execs one inparticular former MCA VP of A&R Jeff Redd. "When I auditioned for Jeff I was a nervous wreck the singer adds... he enjoyed my performance but later came to the decision that (I lacked confidence) at that time I was a little shy so I couldn't argue with that". This being a major blow for the young beauty with brains and talent she became motivated to develop that confidence by continuing to bless audiences with her unique performances in venues from the Sunset strip to NYC. In doing so LaVal caught the attention of up & coming producer Ricc Rudd who has produced for artist such as Destiny's child, Fantasia and Avant to name a few. Amazed by her captivating lyrics and heart felt melodies the two teamed up to work on material and there was born hits like "All my life" the soultry single that will have you bobbing your head with your finger close to the repeat button anticipating another listen! LaVal, with no doubt possess the skills to become one of music greatest. Inspired by many but most definitely in a class of her own...stay tuned!!!
