Rainy and The Dust

About Me

Originally formed in west Wales Rainy and The Dust (formerly known as Little Gaia) quickly gained a large following amongst the surfing community mixing the warm positivity of Rainys lyrics with funk, rock, latin, afro and reggae influenced grooves. After the recently released album 'Hold on to the rhythm' (click here to buy) the band has been busy on the summer festival circuit including headlining The Oak stage at Small Nations, Glastonbury, Bloom and many more. Fast becoming a festival favorite, they deliver the upbeat lyrics and the feelgood world rhythms to brighten up even the most rain drenched u.k. festival!

"Is this a new West Coast sound? Like Bill Withers on a surfboard or a slacker generation Paul Simon, Rainy's laid back grooves get under your skin." Justin Adams (Robert Plant and The Strange Sensations)
"Soundtrack to the summer!" Sophie Oliver (BBC Radio Bristol)
"The mood change is instant as Little Gaia commence. Heavily Samba, 'Wacka-Backa' In your face, with tight-as-you-like bass. It doesn't take long to get a hold on it, in-fact Little Gaia, willingly or not, take a hold of you, entry in through your solar-plexus! Front man 'Rainy's' vocals are so deeply in-tune, that you have to do a double-take, to ascertain whether or not you are actually at a live gig at all! CD quality, tight production and all with live delivery.Rainy's vocals have a sort of two-tone quality, that suggest a team of backing vocalists, or clever desk, and all with the under-pinning of impro' bongo beats, it really is body-bopping brilliance at best. These boys are from the Welsh home-lands and have built up an allegiant following amongst the surfing communities for their laid-back, warm and easy vocals, fused with Funk, Latin, Afro and Reggae influenced grooves. The sort of beats, that your pulse and heart almost jump to on their own. Think: First two pints, mid-summer 'festy' heat, as the old man swaggers towards you, and too enchantingly far away from vacant, your souls lifts up out of your grassy-butted seat and almost instructs you to move. For the first time tonight, the beautiful people of the room have just started to do, just that, and are spreading big-love buoyancy all around the tasty place. Croissant Neuf's youngest trainee, daughter Maya remarks that the band epitomise the sorts of sounds that flow from that grassy 'secret location' of the festival (to be revealed on ticket purchase!) and, recalls her very early festival experiences, with Mum and Dad "I remember being in a floaty dress, surrounded by hundreds and hundreds of glowing, motley lanterns, spinning around in-circles, It was like a dream" This is the lantern procession that is still a permanent fixture to the delights of Croissant Neuf today"
