Order of the Buzzard was formed in February 2005 by Simon Durrant (ex In:Extremis/ ex Superheist) and Troy Mooney after disbanding their previous band (Lone Star Murder Cult) with a desire to write and play heavier music. Drawing from old thrash and death metal influences while combining a more modern approach was the intention. Adding a grindcore and a stoner rock influence to the mix while maintaining a dark and eerie vibe of such bands like Alice in Chains, Acid Bath and Crowbar and the Order of the Buzzard sound emerged. OOTB jammed as the three piece throughtout 2005 with Daniel 'Noodles' Kirk on bass and continued searching for a second guitarist. Fortunately it didn't take long and Bundy joined the ranks as lead guitarist. Now with the line-up complete OOTB forged forward writing and working on material with the intention of recording and playing live ASAP. Due to relocating interstate Noodles left the band and the search for another bassist started immediately. Simon then decided to switch to the role of vocalist and bassist and Wayne Batters joined on rhythm guitar making a tighter, heavier and more stable Order of the Buzzard. It didn't take long for this line-up to get up to speed and get the set of songs together and in early November 2006 OOTB entered Against the Grain Studio with long time friend Andy Kite at the helm. 4 songs were recorded in 2 days for the 'Haunt the Cross' demo/EP. In January 2007 OOTB played their first show in their hometown which was well received. With more live shows played throughout 2007-08, Buzzard honed their intensity on stage, with the Amon Amarth support being a highlight. After getting another batch of metal forged tunes ready, Against the Grain Studios were visited again to record for an upcoming full length. A song from those sessions was included on the Metal 4 Relief comp entitled 'City of Corpses'. Expect the full length 'Killed by the Hunted' sometime early 2009.........
