Red Devil Elvis

About Me

So the story goes late in 1976 Sunless Records had two artists Red Devil Elvis a frustrated vocalist who has his own eclectic style, one that is an acquired taste somewhat like gefilte fish , and The Murdering Houdini’s, which consisted of Rip Nasty on drums, Sin Delicious on bass, and Lucy Fuir on guitar. They were a band of peculiar talent. The label decided to pair these two to see if they could salvage the almost useless contracts they held for both artists. According to a former staff member of Sunless the idea did not go over well and a physical altercation occurred. Forced by their contracts they went to work on their first album “a king is reborn”. Here is where legend and fact blur. According to many sources there was a deal made with the devil for 13 albums in 13 years with 13 songs per album. A similar contract exists at Sunless, but the band insists they were contracted to Satan well before Sunless. After 13 years and only 9 albums (all unsuccessful) and many tours resulting in financial ruin, Red Devil Elvis and the Murdering Houdini’s disappeared without a trace. They will have you believe that they were in Las Vegas, hiding from the unfulfilled contract with the Devil, performing 3 times a night as an early 50’s Elvis Presley tribute band. After 17 years in obscurity, whereabouts unknown, Red Devil Elvis and the Murdering Houdini’s have resurfaced to fulfill their recording contract (with Satan), angered by the fact that Sunless released two unauthorized albums. Pieced together from live performances, B-sides, and left over material deemed unfit by the band. In late 2006 sessions for a greatest hits album were booked. A rerecording of the songs that kept them alive for all those years. Due out summer of 2008 the 31st anniversary release of the Greatest shit’s “the worst of the worst”. Needless to say Red Devil Elvis and the Murdering Houdini’s are back with a vengeance looking to reclaim their title as Britain’s Most Hated Band. So lock up your daughters and farm animals because Red Devil Elvis and the Murdering Houdini’s are coming back.
