I believe in Mindfulness...meaning that everyday I take time to appreciate the moment, to remind myself to just breathe...enjoy that particular moment in my life and think of nothing But...that moment, for it will never return to me. I believe that every moment is a miricle...even when it may not be the "best" moment...we are still here..living our lives making our choices. I have learned a lot about compassion, I have always thought of myself as a compassionate person, but I have learned and am still learning that there are very different degrees of compassion. I love all people, we are all equal. My small goal is to beautify my mind, enjoy my time here on earth for it is short, smile as much as I can & appreciate all the beauty and beautiful people around me.
I can't tell you the exact moment I discovered that music was my passion; I guess it was always there with me, as I'm sure it has been with many others.
This is what I remember....
Ever since I was about 7 years old I was starting my own singing groups, little bands with imaginary instruments, giving everyone in my band their "instrument" and part to sing.
When I was 8 years old a good friend that lived in the same apartment building as me was moving away. I decided that we (about 10 friends) needed to put on a mini concert to show our friend how much she would be missed! We did a few Beatles songs & a Jullian Lennon song together and for the grand finale I thought it would be nice to sing "Missing You" by the Incomparable Diana Ross. I wasn't scared to sing in front of my friends (which isn't always the case now) I was just caught up in the moment, we all cried and It really was not only an amazing moment but an amazing memory!
Music is one of the most beautiful forms of expression; It always has been for me. One of the things I'm sure of is when I figured out I was in love with singing and creating music, that's when I found "my" place in this world! Many young children discover this at a young age and It would be wonderful to be able to encourage them to do something positive like learning how to play a musical instrument or developing their voice!!! Children are just trying to find a place in this world... Just as I was trying to find my place! Just like YOU maybe trying to find your place!
Across the nation, school and community music programs have been discontinued or severely diminished due to budget cuts. The positive effects of music education on children’s emotional and intellectual growth have been proven. It's important that we give our children something positive to focus their energy on!
