Be True to Yourself. The simple phrase is heard so often that the significance of it may be ignored. It's the individual that has an absence of certain qualities who constantly attempts to convince others that he/she does indeed possess those non-existent characteristics. Why simply talk about what you can do when you can demonstrate it with your actions? Actions are what give substance to words which would otherwise be nothing but meaningless sounds. Do not challenge me; do not challenge others. You are your only true competitor. To realize that allows you to face your own fears and imperfections.
I'm not advocating a lack of determination, but do think about it. When you look deep within your soul, are you truly happy with yourself? There are secrets you may carry that would shock even your closest friends and family. Always look past the exterior of a person. When you turn a person inside out, what you discover within may be the opposite of what you'd expect. Have a goal of delivering nothing but the best for yourself. That way, it will reflect upon others.
There is a fine line between overconfidence and insecurity.
What do you feel you have to prove? If you're as intelligent as you say you are, you will be recognized. If you are as good-looking as you say you are, you will be seen. If you are as successful as you say you are, you will make your mark. The greatest individual doesn't need to tell the world how great he is because he will be noted as such by his actions. Don't create a facade to attempt to mask a deficiency. If you can't be honest about yourself to yourself, it's impossible to establish any kind of honest relationship with others.
It's sad how there's a tendency to lie to yourself so much that it becomes difficult to distinguish the difference between the truth and a fabricated story. If dissatisfied with an aspect of your life, do something to change it rather than complain about it. Granted, life has its ups and downs and everyone faces obstacles, but to wallow in self-pity for an indefinite amount of time is senseless. Trust me, there are times where I'm unable to look past my present hindrances, but all in all I've realize that I'm incredibly strong. Human beings are very different, but we are capable of handling more than we realize. When in doubt, remember that there are always others in the same position as you. Life is full of contradictions. Tough situations may make us stronger, but at the same time more skeptical and callous. I say all of this for the mere purpose of encouragement (another attempt to convince myself); yet the most difficult task to achieve is to follow your own advice.
