Well i have been here ever since i was 17, came with my uncle to study. I am 25 now and i have been here for nearly 9 years. I was Born in France The city of Nantes. So i have been here with my uncle who is controlling the station that we are at. I can give you a simple description of the situation that we are looking at to help the rest of the world? Basically in the 2005 the ozone hole is biger and deeper than the holes that formed when the discovery was made but the situation would be much worse if the Montreal Protocol had not come into force, this agreement show us that global action by governments to stop the release of ozone depleting chemicals really can help society to successfully mitigate a global environmental problem. we are still experiencing large losses of Antarctic ozone each spring because CFCs and other chemicals live for a long time in our atmosphere, but the ban ensures that we will see an improvement in the future. We now need to take similar actions to control greenhouse gasses, otherwise we will bequeath future generations a significantly different climate from that of today.Basically, i am from the station of Novolazarevskaya, and these are the following oporations we carry out here (if you do not know what they are just ask me i'll explain to you): Environmental monitoring Geodesy/mapping Geomagnetic observations Glaciology - continental Glaciology - sea ice zone Human biology Ionospheric/auroral observations Limnology Meteorological observations Onshore geology/geophysics Seismology Terrestrial biology The population of novolazarevskaya is, 70 maximum summer population and 30 average winter populationWe have 9 buildings which are approx 1 015 sq m combined floor area 200 sq m used as accommodation we havepower and fuel supply, 400 50 Hz power supply 850 kW power generation capacity, 3 generator generators fuelled with Diesel fuel 221 000 litres of fuel used annually with the water and sewage we use thepotable water supplymethod via fresh water lake.We have a very limited mdical facilities ovolazarevskaya has the following medical facilities 31,5 sq m medical suite,1 doctor 2 bed for patients Operating facilities&X-Ray facilities Alot of people as how we get our supplies we get: 1 resupply visit per season (in January - March) 75 km from station to anchorage 50 m deep anchorage Other support transport Snowmobileswe have only one.If you have any questions please do ask, i would love to share with you my stories:)...It gets very lonely here and boring especially because youc an not meet new people very often.
