About Me

Celtic Post-punk Acoustic. These are 3 labels to describe 3 arm spiral to the world, but really - how does blue taste? How does purple feel?Adam Ryan is the songwriter/singer. main instrument is open tuned mandolin and modfied acoustic "percussion guitar". Adam has been in many bands, though probably the most memorable was "the Suspects" a Post-punk band based in Bangkok during the mid 90's. Having a venue full of people screaming back your own words to you is an experience you don't get over easily and he is still trying.Lewis Parsons is a multi instrumentalist from Bedford who decided to try his luck in Australia's cowboy country. Playing in a number of bands in England and then Australia ( Jabiru, the Duanes). He is currently playing bass with Adam. As he remarked to Leah Flannigan, he was doing sound for Adam's solo gig and he was so impressed he joined the band. Both members bring a wealth of experience ( yeah, they're in their mid 30's and proud of it!) and deep apreciation of many genres to the mix but underpinning the lot is a river of Celtic magic that springs from down deep. The band is based in Darwin N.T., as far north in Australia as you can get without being eaten by crocodiles. They are fiercely independent and proud to mow against the grain...

Blondie in Bangkok March 2 , 2005

I've been meaning to write about the night we went to see Blondie in Bangkok for a couple of reasons. Firstly because that night I saw another band that lived up to their legend. And secondly bec...

Buttons of fun, baptisms of fire.

One of the great things about being a muso is when you can connect with another player on many levels and the product is greater than the sum of the parts. I've recently started rehearsals with a bas...

K.O. in P.P.

I remember that it was as dark as it ever gets and fairly quiet, 3 or 4 in the morning. The stalls had gone and the bars were shut but there were still people in ones and twos hanging around doorways ...

Red Hot Chilli Peppers live in Bangkok

Having never seen Led Zeppelin play live or dropped a tab whilst watching Hendrix I guess I can't be called an expert on live rock 'n roll shows. As I was born only 1 year before what Homer Simpson ca...

After going down south for Christmas we were glad to be back into the heat and humidity of Darwin. Tired of waiting for my DVD to arrive from Bangkok I decided to record a rough demo and get it out t...

Darwin 1

So, here we are. Like the silence after the explosion, the pause after the storm. Nobody wants to do anything before Christmas. We've been 'round to the markets and talked to a few people. Seems Darw...

LEAVING THAILAND

Something 'they' say is that life is what happens between plans: if they are right then there was a lot of life happening to us the night we left Thailand.   It was the culmination of two years o...
