Juicebox is a 4 piece band specializing in funk, soul, Motown and blues. The band is not only fun to listen to, but a great dance band. Juicebox was formed in the late fall of 2005. Since then Juicebox has performed 20 gigs, playing at bars and private parties in Grand County. The members of Juicebox include Rob Gonzales (guitar/backup vocals), Warren Ward (bass), Gary Birch or Mike Ray(drums/back up vocals) and myself, Kay Irvine (lead vocals). While our band is relatively new, our players are well seasoned. ............................................................

uicebox is proud to bring on board Rob Gonzales (formerly of Special Blend and The Freaks). Former guitarist, Andy Irvine, left the band this spring to tour with On The One . . . a hot band based out of San Diego specializing in instrumental funk. While we will miss Andy, the band as a whole will not miss a beat. Rob has been playing guitar for 14 years. He is an extraordinary guitar player and musician who can jump right in, get the job done, while adding a fresh sound to the music. ............................................................

We have used a couple different bass players over the past year. Warren Ward (of Mango Chutney) is not only a real nice guy, but also a real solid and dedicated bass player. Dean Merold of Denver has also been a contributing factor to the band over the past year and a half. Dean is a professional freelance bass player out of Denver who is more than capable of stepping in at any time and laying down some fantastic funky grooves. ............................................................

We are also lucky to have utilized two great drummers over the past year and a half. Mike Ray (formerly of Tempa And The Tantrums) and Gary Birch (of Third Time Lucky) who also adds colorful backup vocals to the music. ............................................................

My name is Kay Irvine. I feel that I contribute to the band musically by bringing vocals that are powerful, warm and versatile. I have been singing locally for the past seven years. I spent most of those years singing as part of the Kay And Dave duo (performing rock and folk). Last fall I decided I wanted to branch out in what I was doing musically. I wanted to form my own band. I have always loved the music of Motown and was inspired to do something along those lines. I wanted to perform songs that were fun to sing, interesting for the band to play, and songs that people could say "Wow, I haven't heard this song forever. I love this song." I also wanted to play a few songs that were more obscure but that could still captivate an audience. I wanted to play songs that people could dance to. So in the fall of 2005, I formed my own band Juicebox. I feel blessed to be surrounded by my bandmates, not only are they extremely talented, but they are genuinely good people and a pleasure to work with.Created with mySpace Profile Editor
