About Me

Derrick also known as D-Man or DJ to his family, is a young musician in the STL who is learning how to incorporate his feelings into beats & lyrics for everyone to enjoy. D-Man started at age 15, when his friend Jaron aka "Yung JJ", encouraged him to do it. Since that time, Derrick started writing lyrics, learning how to make beats and even participated in rap battles, mainly defeating a person on his bus known as "Black Sizzle." Derrick started making music because he wanted to make a name for himself due to many reasons. When going to school, Derrick was a nice and intelligent person but, kids would often judge him and treat him like shit, before they even had a chance to get to know him. Plus, Derrick was neglected by his dad after his mom and dad got divorced so this caused Derrick to grow up with a heart of gold but a life with angst. A lot of people today think rap is all about rims, riding on 24's, girls shaking their booties in the music videos, getting drunk, and all that crap. But unlike some rappers, D-Man's music speaks the truth. D-Man's music deals about society and how things such as drama, hatred, sex, violence, and ignorance make the world change for the worse. It also deals with treating women with respect, sports, people, his feelings, or other topics people suggest to him. D-Man wants people to know that there are people out there that actually care about others and want to make the world a better place. Derrick wants to be a legend, who lived his life making a difference on people's lives.
