Hennie Bekker is an award winning, multi-platinum selling recording artist, whose eclecticcareer spans decades, continents, generations and genres. Hennie is well known for hisambient, classical and new age sound on the Hennie Bekker's Tranquility--, Solitudes--,Kaleidoscopes series. His work with BKS (he's the B part) earned him three Junonominations, one Juno award, four Top10 hits, a MuchMusic Video Award, and resulted insales of over three million records. His African roots emerge in the African Tapestriesseries, an expedition of world music interwoven with the sounds and rhythms of hisyouth.
Bekker was raised in Mufulira, a Zambian copper mining town 10 miles south of the Congoborder. A self taught pianist, Bekker had his professional debut at age 15, and spent thenext decade performing with various bands throughout Zambia, Zaire, Zimbabwe and SouthAfrica. Later in South Africa, Hennie became Musical Director for one of Africa’s largestrecord companies, and added scores of film, television, radio and commercial music to hislist of career accomplishments. In the early 80’s Bekker moved to London, England where hearranged, conducted and together with producer Emil Zogby, co-produced albums for suchnotable artists as Freddie Cole, Magna Carta and Stanley Black. Hennie now calls Toronto,Canada his home.
