I began by chance taking pictures at concerts – though I have to say my passion for photography took me when I was very short. At the beginning it was just my friends asking me to do it, but it didn’t feel easy: I used to have performance panic, with consequent little prayer at home, to my jelly roll god (to whom I say hello), begging him to make me work out something good. It was very much alike the embarrassment of singing in front of a lot of people, but in this case you knew just some days after if you had made a poor showing.
It was a hell, but since I kept on doing it, that definitely meant I liked it.
After a while I realized that what I was really doing was: playing my camera.
Maybe it’s for this reason that I only take pictures of bands that I love and with whom I feel a strong empathy.
I check the sound at home with films and batteries. I only use an analogical reflex, because my camera makes me feel at ease. It’s very condescending: sometimes I have to put sellotape on it, because I am clumsy, but it always gives the best, because it knows I care deeply about it.
Having to wait has its negative aspects, but to me photographic process is still a magic and when I made it listen to the music I like..it was love at first sight.
