I am colorblind. I can only tell color by the grade of temperature it emits. I can see warm/hot, nuetral/natural, and cool/freezing. This is the extent of what I can see. I paint by pure associate of the word of the color.
With this said, my whole life I was told not to paint. Even in art school, where I struggled with my compositions based on the instructions of the teachers, I found it somewhat hopeless for me to create anything.
The great thing about art, is that no matter what people tell you, you can do whatever you want. So in the fall of 2004 in San Francisco, I decided to dismiss what all my peers and teachers told me, and I began to paint.
So far I have completed my first collection and am proud to say that I am no longer deemed as invalid as I have been commissioned for quite a few works. My main inspiration is drag, performance artists, and musicians, everything and everyone that has brought a bit of color (no pun intended) in my life. I'm looking at expanding my work to include alot of other artists, so if you are interested in being immortalized, email me!
I don't feel that I'm really handicapped. I think its kind of a gift, don't you think?
