Underdog Ensemble

About Me

An 8 piece ensemble formed in late 2006. The Underdog Ensemble draw their repertoire exclusively from the compositions of Charles Mingus, embracing the myriad of styles that make Mingus music so uniquely distinctive. Blending Bop, Latin, Mexican folk music, Gospel, Avant Garde, New Orleans and the occasional Waltz feel. Featuring some of London's brightest young rising stars, and playing their own arrangements, the band aim to recreate the sound and feel of Mingus whilst allowing themselves the freedom to let their own voices be heard.

The Underdogs would like to thank

Rick Kurek for his recording and mixing skills, check out his own music @ www.myspace.com/rickkurek

All the staff and regulars at The Milford Arms in Isleworth for their continued support, rehearsal space and encouragement

Especially Tony Vaughan for his web and computer based expertise
