About Me

Takanori Niida / New York-based, Japanese-born professional drummer. He played and recorded with Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Oz Noy and many others. We can hear him perform on Trans-Siberian Orchestra's new album "The Lost Christmas Eve" from LAVA/Atlantic Records which has already become a platinum album. He released his first solo album "Life in the Big City" in JAPAN on October 25th 2006. It was released by one of the most well known jazz-fusion labels in Japan, POLYSTAR JAZZ LIBRARY. The album features jazz-fusion greats, such as ex-Miles Davis sideman Adam Holzman (Keys.), Aaron Heick (Sax), bass legend Will Lee, James Genus (Bass), Jeff Allen (Bass), Jon Herington(Guitar), Jinshi Ozaki (Guitar) and Berklee College of Music faculty member Tomo Fujita (Guitar).
It is truly a collaboration of Jazz-Fusion heavyweights.

Here are the quotes from the recording musicians:"Taka's CD is one of the coolest projects I've worked on recently."
--- Adam Holzman"It was a really fun experience to be a part of this recording.
Takanori managed to get some really great performances out of
some really great musicians. It's strong music, and I'm proud to have
been a part of it." --- Aaron HeickIn a time when so many musicians are making aesthetic choices driven
by feeble "strategic marketing" thinking, it's refreshing to come across
someone like Takanori Niida, who puts his music first, and who isn't
afraid to PLAY! --- Jon HeringtonIt was my great pleasure to be a part of this music and this project.
Takanori Niida is a player's player. Thanks for asking me to the party!
--- Will LeeI had such great time playing this music with Taka. I was impressed with
his groove and feel. He took care of business. --- James Genus
