BandbioKöln, Frühjahr 2006: Die Band [son], die sich während ihres zweijährigen Bestehens im Kölner Raum einen gewissen Bekanntheitsgrad erspielen konnte (unter anderem durch Gigs mit „Subseven“ und „Circle of Grin“), sieht sich in einer kreativen Sackgasse: Frische, unverbrauchte Ideen und ein neuer Sound sind gefragt. Also entscheidet sich die vierköpfige Band (Martin/Cube g., Daniel/Gottschi d., Gabriel/Gabi b., Mico v.) neue Wege einzuschlagen.Mai 2006: ein neuer Sänger wird gesucht, und schließlich in Chris gefunden. Mico übernimmt von nun an das Shouting und die Backgroundvocals, und erweitert in Form eines Pianos und Samplers das Soundspektrum der Gruppe.Juni 2006: In der folgenden Zeit erreicht die Produktivität und die Kreativität der fünf einen neuen Höhepunkt, und man einigt sich auf „Death of a Hero“ als Bandnamen. Musikalisch wird das Rad zwar nicht neu erfunden, aber dennoch richten sich „Death of a Hero“ eine eigene Nische irgendwo zwischen Alexisonfire und Thrice, zwischen Days in Grief und Billy Talent ein. Punkige Beats und schnelle Akkordwechsel treffen auf präzise Doublebass Attacken und metallastige Singlenoteläufe, sphärisch-fragile auf aggressive Up-Tempo Parts.Auch gesanglich decken „Death of a Hero“ das gesamte Spektrum von zerbrechlichen, cleanen Vocals, über energiegeladene Sing-a-long Parts hin zu brutalen Shouts ab.Den Sound der Fünf in eine Schublade zu packen gestaltet sich aufgrund der abwechslungsreichen Arrangements schwierig, am ehesten würde es wohl der Begriff „Post-Hardcore“ treffen.September 2006: Das erste Drei-Track-Demo mit dem Titel „the royalties will be ours“ wird aufgenommen und man ist bereit, das neue Material, das nun aus einem 30-35 Min. Set besteht live zu präsentieren!Januar 2007: Bis Ende Januar 2007 spielen „Death of a Hero“ ihre ersten 4 Gigs in NRW und Umgebung und ernten eine sehr positive und starke Zuschauerresonanz. Außerdem arbeiten sie an der Vervollständigung ihres Tourplans für 2007, in dem sich bis jetzt bis Sommer 2007 noch 6 weitere Gigs, unter anderem bei einem Open-Air-Festival in Brandenburg befinden.Februar 2007: „the royalties will be ours“ wird zum ersten Mal öffentlich von UNCLESALLY’S rezensiert und erntet mit 7 von 10 Punkten eine mehr als zufrieden stellende Kritik, worin nur die Produktionsqualität des Demos bemängelt wird.Der neu aufgenommene Song „don’t die“ wird Soundtrack des Films „RUN“ von Adrian M. Hüttel.März 2007: „Death of a Hero“ präsentieren nun ihr komplettes, 11-Track starkes, 45 Min. Set live mit großem Erfolg, unter anderem im Kölner “Purple Clubâ€. [son], a band which reached a certain reputation in Cologne and its surrounding during the two years of their existence, faced a dead-end street. New ideas and creative impulses were needed, and the four members (Mico v. , Cube g. , Gottschi g. , Gabi b. ) decided to look for a new lead singer and finally met Chris who took the job over. From now on, Mico did the background vocals, the shouting and enlarges the sound-range of the band with a piano and a sampler.In the following the band worked as hard, as constructive and as fertile as they never did before and agreed on “Death of a Hero†as the new name of the band. Although the five guys don’t invent some “brand-new style†of music, they manage to create their own little corner somewhere inbetween Alexisonfire and Thrice, Days in Grief and Billy Talent.Their sound is a merging of up-tempo punk-beats and aggressive double-bass attacks, a fusion of metal-like singlenote riffs and spheric, fragile parts.The Vocals, too, cover the whole spectrum over frail, clean vocals, to energetic sing-a-long parts and in-your-face shoutings.It is hard to give a clear definition of the style of their music because of the varying arrangements, most likely it would be Post-Hardcore or, referring to “Uncle Sally’s†review of the band’s 2006er demo “The Royalties Will Be Oursâ€, Emo-Core.By now, the first 3-track demo “The Royalties Will Be Ours†had been recorded and received an absolutely positive feedback from the audience on their gigs as well as from the music magazine “Uncle Sally’s (7 out of 10 points).A complete set has been created and the band is ready to perform their energetic mixture of hardness and melodies on the stages all over germany!img src="http://pic.photobucket.com/album/slideshow/wrapper_gety ourown.gif" style="float:right;border-width: 0;"
