Hello, I am Katherine Curnow, I am 19 years old and I am currently doing a bachelor of Arts at Curtin University, studying Public Relations, Marketing and Journalism. However, if things go my way I may not have to do that for much longer if I get into WAAPA... fingers crossed.
I have been singing for 12 years and know that this is truly the path I am meant to take. I am hard working and eager to learn as much as I possibly can to further my abilities and my knowledge in anything (and everything) to do with music.
I have a deep appreciation for all genres of music, but I am partial to the old throw-back sounds, of motown, blues, jazz and soul. I LOVE Christina, Whitney, Aretha and Mariah - the big female vocalists. Otherwise I'll listen to things from Silverchair to Italian Opera pieces - So yeah, pretty much anything with a bit of feeling to it.
And Yes, I have already had my skint on the reality tv shows like Australian Idol, where I did progress to Sydney on two separate occasions, and while I did not make it very far in my eyes, I am thankful in knowing that I have the freedom to make it on my own without the stigma.
I regret not being proactive in my pursuit of a musical career but have recently been inspired to do so. I have learnt that you have to put yourself out there in order to get to where you want. I have learnt not to be afraid of failing and if and when I do, learn from these experience and build from them.
I am currently looking for muso's to jam, or more co-write with, and also someone to play drums and guitar for my demo - which is at the moment going to be covers, yes I know - but find me someone to co-write with and then MAYBE you'll get some originals ;) So yeah, if you know anyone who fits this description then I would be happy to hear from you.
