About Me

..in 2009: Latest: Check: www.beatportal.com/remix/detail/peace-rossis-peace-2-oli-rem ix/ It's been a tough 6 months surviving all the staff cuts in Europe, but it seems that my future here in Holland has been secured...When I have relaxed after a well earned holiday (I have had none for year!), then I will try completing my album. I never stopped tinkering on the music, just less and less as my day job hours grew... ..in 2008: I've settled in The Netherlands.
My life here as been an adventure, and despite having time to do an album, I just haven't quite made enough of the right tunes to complete the job.
When I finally finish, I may present it as a 'mixed' album that is d.j. friendly, for d.j.'s who want to use selected tracks in their continuous live mixes.
This is the plan: the tempo will not be altered within each individual track, but each track might be 1 or 2 bpm faster than the previous.
As a whole, it will sound continuous, with overlapping layers.
..in early 2007: "Unite" by Sweden based duo Ödman & Sayegh was released. My remix was among those on offer through Resurgent Records.
I was previously asked by Resurgent Records to remix "Day by day", by England based DJ Josel.
The originals and my remixes of both songs were available as .wav & .mp3 through beatport.com, and by .mp3 through Release Records and 3beat digital. Sadly, Release and 3beats online stores have closed, and resurgent is no longer represented on beatport.
I have collaborated extensively in Australia with progressive DJ Miss Maxo (although now we both live in Europe).
In 2007, before leaving Australia, I explored my old-school garage / house roots with remix of one of our earlier tracks "Zoning in".
You can hear this and some of or collaborations here....
Miss Maxo (Myspace)
Our tracks have stirred up clubs and outdoor festivals (such as 'Rainbow Serpent' and 'Earthcore') in or around Melbourne, Victoria. We've included live instrumentalists and/or vocals on some these tracks.
Over the years my productions, collaborations and remixes have been heard on the original Melbourne 'Kiss FM', had some heavy rotation on 'Street FM', the new 'Kiss FM', and I even had a remix streaming from the website of the historic 'Mushroom' records.
Miss Maxo was very pleased to be woken by our first collaboration 'Fear of space' on her clock-radio one morning!
From the beginning...
I originally come from rural, south island New Zealand...("Where?", you say!!)
I learned to play piano, various string instruments and studied music theory as a child, but always gravitated towards synthesizers and drum machines.
Actually I didn't fully learn to understand the beauty of 'real' instruments until after the notion of electronic music not being 'real' music had become a thing of the past.
I fell in love with dance music in the late '80's, and drifted through early '90's parties and clubs in Sydney, Australia.
I then moved to Melbourne. I was hired at short notice by a choreographer to do some editing for a tongue-in-cheek dance number to usher in the New Year at 'Salt' nightclub (in the late '90's, before it became famous for the wrong reasons).
I went quite a bit further than just editing, and this led to me doing sound FX, keyboard arrangements and remixing work for 'Magnitude', 'Winterdaze' and other parties at clubs / venues like 'Dome', 'Zos' and at the Docklands.
In doing this, I learnt to cope with big sound systems, choreographers, dancers, singers (even an opera singer!!), percussionists and pyrotechnics...and DJ's understandably unaccustomed to 'Theatrical extravaganzas' between sets!
Eventually, a followed my heart into a more underground vibe, with the help of Miss Maxo, and also met Danny Rodrigues of Resurgent Records.
then I moved to Netherlands...a whole new phase of my life!
