FRONTIER HORIZON: Our Purpose
We strive to serve the poor and impoverished in the following ways:* We supply food, shelter, medicine and other basic assistance to orphans, homeless children, the neglected elderly, and impoverished families in Ukraine and Nicaragua. The organization actively seeks out needs resulting from economic instability, political crisis, war or natural disaster, and we meet those needs to the best of our ability. From the poor children living in the large orphanages of Odessa, Ukraine to the homeless children and elderly on the streets of Managua, Nicaragua, we work where the needs are the greatest.* We establish and cultivate working relationships with on-site, third-world government officials to enact long-term improvements in the life of the impoverished. We seek to help ease adoption laws, develop self sufficiency programs (through agricultural development and small businesses), assist in the rebuilding and/or renovation of orphanages and elderly housing, provide proper medical attention to those in need, strive to improve education, enhance recreational activities, and development relationships with individuals locally and abroad who care about the needy.* We forge a vital network with United States-based adoption agencies and third-world government adoption agencies in order to enhance the process of connecting orphaned children with American families who desire to adopt. Our role entails connecting interested American families and adoption agencies with the numerous orphanages where we work in addition to providing contact with the proper foreign authorities in any given country.* We organize mission and service conferences to be held at churches, synagogues, or community centers around the nation. A major aspect of these events centers on the development of service or missions trips to developing countries in order to provide Americans with a first-hand look at the problems these countries face. Through such events we also encourage adoption possibilities and continual monetary support of the orphanages and children we serve.* Although Frontier Horizon is founded on basic Judeo-Christian tenets, the criteria used to determine assistance will never be based on religious beliefs. There are no religious demands placed upon those we give to or potential adoptive families. We hope for a loving, accepting environment in which a child can grow and develop socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually. As found in Galations 5:6, we take seriously the apostle Paul's admonition that "faith expressing itself through love" is of paramount importance. Our underlying goal is to imitate Christ's unconditional love towards others through loving and serving the poor.
